IASB publishes Exposure Draft on IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard consolidation exception extension

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) has issued an Exposure Draft proposing narrow-scope amendments to the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard. To provide entities applying the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard with the same cost savings available under full IFRS Accounting Standards, the IASB proposes a consolidation exemption for intermediate parent entities whose parent or ultimate parent is an investment entity that does not prepare consolidated financial statements.

Stakeholders are invited to comment on the Exposure Draft until 9 September 2026.
