The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) decided to amend the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard to introduce a consolidation exception for eligible SMEs with an investment entity parent, providing cost savings already available under full IFRS Accounting Standards.
SMEs using the exception will be required to disclose its use and details about their parent entity.
The amendments are expected before the end of 2026 and will take effect with the third edition of the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard for reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027.
