Chair of the IFRS Foundation provides update on the appointments to the inaugural ISSB

Erkii Liikanen, Chair of the IFRS Foundation Trustees, has provided an update on the status of the appointments to the International Sustainability Standards Board.

Highlights include:

• The appointment of the Chair and Vice-Chair;
• 12 remaining ISSB members will be appointed;
• In accordance with the IFRS Foundation constitution, the ISSB may issue exposure drafts when approved by the Chair and Vice-Chair, however, a quorum of 8 members must be in place for the ISSB to deliberate on feedback received and for final requirements to be published;
• The Trustees will prioritise the appointment of the first 6 additional board members in order to reach the necessary quorum of 8, with the final 6 board members to be appointed afterwards.
