BDO submits comment letters to the IASB on two IFRIC Tentative Agenda Decisions

BDO has submitted comment letters in response to the following IFRIC Tentative Agenda Decisions:
  • Disclosure of Revenues and Expenses for Reportable Segments (IFRS 8):
BDO does not disagree that the technical analysis set out in the TAD represent a valid interpretation of how the requirements of IFRS 8 can be read. However, outreach conducted by BDO since the TAD was published indicates that the technical analysis set out in the TAD has broad and pervasive implications for entities that fall within the scope of IFRS 8, which BDO believes require standard setting to address.
  • Climate-related Commitments (IAS 37):
BDO agrees with the technical analysis set out in the TAD. However, BDO considers that it would be appropriate for the IFRS Interpretations Committee to expand the analysis in the TAD to address the circumstances in which climate-related commitments would result in first, disclosure of a contingent liability and, second, the recognition of a provision.
