Learning through every project: Micaela's journey at BDO Peru

Micaela Fiorella Vásquez Yturbe
Consultant
BDO Peru

In consulting, no two days are the same. For Micaela, Consultant at BDO Peru, that’s exactly the point. She was drawn to the pace and the challenge early on, especially because it let her build her career from a different perspective than the traditional path.

What keeps her engaged is the constant change. Each project brings a new reality: a different industry, a different question, and a different context to understand. It’s not a path for everyone, she says, but it’s one where you can keep learning, and go further with every assignment.

Just as importantly, she’s felt backed from day one by people who have helped her find her footing, asked thoughtful questions, and grow into new responsibilities over time.

Thinking beyond the expected

Micaela has learned that each project is a completely different world. Every organisation has its own context, culture, and way of operating, so the best proposals are often the ones designed ad hoc: practical, specific, and grounded in what the client actually needs.

Each project is a completely different world. Methodologies guide you, but the real value is designing solutions that are truly tailored to each client’s context and needs.

Her sense of belonging started early. As an intern, she was given space to participate, share ideas, and contribute. Being included in projects, having visibility with the client, and feeling trusted with responsibility helped her build confidence quickly, and reach higher than she expected at that stage.

Progress, project by project

Micaela describes her development in practical terms: taking on new challenges, expanding responsibility, and building both technical and consulting skills across projects. Ongoing feedback, trust in her judgment, and exposure to different industries have strengthened how she analyses, communicates, and manages her work, helping her grow in a way that feels steady and real.

What motivates her most is knowing the work can influence real decisions and outcomes. That sense of responsibility pushes her to bring her best, one project at a time. In the end, it’s about shaping what matters for the client in a practical, day-to-day way.
