Growth through every challenge: Raul's journey at BDO Peru

Raul Sinche Rojas
Director, Audit
BDO Peru

What keeps someone engaged in audit over the long term? For Raul, it comes down to steady learning, strong teamwork, and the real impact audit can have on the decisions clients make.

From the start of his career, Raul was looking for more than just a job, he was looking for a place where he could grow, both professionally and personally.

At BDO Peru, he found a place where learning happens every day, supported by experienced leaders and shaped by real responsibility right from the beginning.

What has kept me here is the opportunity to grow in an environment that combines technical rigor with closeness to direct leaders, encouraging interaction and the exchange of ideas and knowledge. In addition, each engagement represents a challenge and an opportunity for learning.

Raul has learned that the best audit work begins long before reviewing financial statements.

It begins with really understanding how the client’s business runs and what drives it. With that context, thinking beyond comes naturally: I start anticipating risks, reading the story behind the financial statements, and considering how my conclusions could influence their strategy.

The value is in connecting audit insight with the client’s broader business vision, bringing clarity to what the numbers mean in context.

A moment that shaped a leader

Across his career, Raul has had many meaningful interactions, but one moment from his early audit engagements still stands out. After completing an audit for a client in an industry that was new to him, the engagement Partner called him into her office and congratulated him on the work he had done.

It was truly rewarding to feel that my effort was seen and valued. Something that might have seemed routine made a real difference in my professional path. It also shaped the way I lead, reminding me how powerful recognition can be, and it inspired me to pass that same encouragement on to the members of my teams.

What motivates you to bring your best to work each day?

I am motivated by knowing that the results of my work have an impact on the decisions my clients may make. That drives me to give my very best.
