Egypt - Maximum and Minimum Salaries Subject to Social Insurance Increased

Egypt’s National Social Insurance Authority recently announced an increase in the minimum and maximum insurance contribution wages effective on January 1, 2026.

Law No. 148 of 2019, and the executive regulations issued by Prime Minister’s Resolution No. 2473 of 2021, set the maximum limit of the basic salary that is subject to the social insurance. The following updates will be effective from 1 January 2026:
  • For employees, the maximum limit of the basic salary subject to social Insurance is EGP 16,700 per month (EGP 200,400 per year). The minimum insurance wage is EGP 2,700 per month (EGP 32,400 Egyptian annually), provided that these two limits are increased by 15% on 1 January of each year for a period of seven years starting from 1 January 2021.
  • In addition to the above, the monthly insured earning cap for those registered as employers (e.g., board members and registered directors) will be EGP 16,700 monthly, effective from 1 January   2026.
