RETHINK (THE COVID EFFECT)
As a result of the pandemic, BDO have adopted a three-stage model to help our clients manage business priorities, address issues and leverage thinking: React, Resilience, Realise. These stages can be considered separately, or as a part of a roadmap to help companies manage throughout the COVID-19 impact. The model provides a practical approach to helping companies assess what issues they are likely to face throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery. In time we will be providing Mining, O&G and Renewables applications to our RETHINK model to address the likely business challenges ahead.
Public sector and Healthcare organisations have been under overwhelming pressure as a result of the pandemic. Their priority was to efficiently respond to the increasing needs of the public.
Effective service delivery has been severely impacted and, in some cases, projects or programs deemed non-essential have been stalled. These organisations are also simultaneously implementing and adapting to remote working arrangements.
Public sector organisations are grappling with existing and new challenges:
- How do you mobilize a remote workforce?
- How can programs and policies position for economic sustainability post Covid-19?
- What is needed to ensure funding and relief programs are benefiting the intended populations?
Around the globe BDO experts in Public Sector, Healthcare and Non-profit are working together with clients to navigate these difficult circumstances, sharing best practices and keeping informed of the rapidly evolving business landscape.
People helping people is a key feature of our firm . We are all in contact to find how we can best support our clients and the community through this crisis.
Access to public funds and grants
Each year local and national administrations, international institutions and non-profit organisations allocate huge amounts to help research, education and culture, to alleviate poverty, to launch new policies and to support the economy.
The Covid-19 pandemic is causing an historic disruption that will result in a need for significant financial aid.
The pandemic arrives at a time when major changes are already occurring - the theme of the 2020 Davos World Economic Forum which BDO embraces was Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World.
Financial support - public or private - will need to pursue a fine balance: building a smarter and more sustainable society while alleviating the impact of the economic crisis on businesses and people.
Measures will need to take into consideration sound business and economic principles which are essential, while taking into account other indicators such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Today more than ever, making the right decisions and implementing them with vision and professionalism is key. BDO can help the public sector and other donors in making those decisions.
If you are looking for funding BDO can help you assess the extent to which your organisation can apply for various forms of grants, guide you through the application process and develop internal systems that ensure that reporting requirements are met.
