Colombian state-run oil company Ecopetrol S.A.has completed its transaction with Statkraft European Wind and Solar Holding AS in partnership with Enerfín Sociedad, acquiring one development and operations company and six special purpose entities holding approximately 0.6 GW of solar projects in Colombia. The deal is part of a broader asset purchase agreement to acquire up to ten wind and solar energy project development companies from Norway's Statkraft, totaling approximately 1.4 GW of capacity.
Ecopetrol is the largest company in Colombia and one of the main integrated energy companies in the American continent, with more than 19,000 employees. In Colombia, it is responsible for more than 60% of the hydrocarbon production of most transportation, logistics, and hydrocarbon refining systems, and it holds leading positions in the petrochemicals and gas distribution segments.
